Relax
Learning how to relax can calm anxiety and help your mind and body recover from stress. A gentle walk, music, or a bubble bath work for some people – but some of us need more help to relax.
There are many self-help books available, and Flintshire libraries have a special section of these. Or you can ask your GP to prescribe you a self-help book as part of the Book Prescription Wales service – this service now has a specialist section for children and families, as well as general self-help books.
You can also try making changes to your lifestyle like reducing your caffeine intake or making sure you get enough sleep. Or join one of our stress management or mindfulness courses.
Some people find that relaxation exercises help – if you practice regularly you can use them wherever you are, so long as you can find a quiet spot where you won’t be disturbed. You can find a simple relaxation technique on the Mental Health Foundation website or you could join a local yoga, meditation or relaxation class – contact your library for details.
