ASIST Suicide Intervention Skills Training

ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) gives delegates the skills and confidence to intervene when they are faced with someone at immediate risk of suicide.  Its the most commonly used and researched suicide intervention training in the world and has saved and changed hundreds of thousands of lives.

Delegates follow a two-day interactive course, with presentations and guidance from experienced Living Works registered trainers.  At the end of the course they will be able to:

  • identify risk of suicide
  • demonstrate effective listening skills
  • be confident in intervening where a person is at risk of suicide
  • providing comfort to a person experiencing mental distress
  • help and guide a person to develop a plan to keep themselves safe
  • identify resources and organisations which can support people experiencing suicidal thoughts

It focuses particularly on ways that young people show distress such as eating distress, self-harm, suicide and drug and alcohol misuse, as well as depression, anxiety disorders and psychosis.
